The Iconic Tweed Jacket by Lorna Knight

November Project of the Month Challenge Winners

Lorna Knight, who you may have met at one of our free sewing demonstrations in our Hanley store, has produced a class for Craftsy.

Craftsy is an online platform producing interactive video-style classes that you purchase and view in your own time and can watch as many times as you wish and keep forever. As well as knitting and cake decorating tuition, sewing and quilting classes are available and there are some big names providing the instruction including Kenneth D King and Sandra Betzini.

Lorna’s class ‘The Iconic Tweed Jacket’ takes you through the process of making a chic and timeless jacket in ten comprehensive lessons. The steps include fitting; matching checks; applying the lining and hand sewing the embellishments over three and a half hours of class. Any questions you may have can be posted and will be answered by Lorna herself within the 48 hours.

The class gives you the chance to make a beautiful, comfortable to wear and versatile jacket. With its simple shape and collarless style, even a relative beginner can make an Iconic Tweed Jacket to be proud of. A more experienced sewer will appreciate this unusual construction method and be able to add the technique to their repertoire.
