This is a problem-solving workshop – just how do you get the perfectly fitted sleeve and then insert it in a garment? The workshop will help you identify common fitting issues and how to deal with them, how to alter the paper pattern and later, how to redesign sleeves to create new designs such as a petal sleeve or a capped sleeve. Each student will draft their own basic sleeve pattern from personal measurements. The class will include a mixture of sewing and pattern-drafting exercises, using different fabrics. Discover techniques to ensure the sleeve is set in without pleats or gathers using bias strips or crimping. This workshop uses both sewing and paper pattern alteration techniques.
